About Maureen's School Of Dance and Dancewear Shop in Chesapeake, VA
Happily celebrated our 50th year in business, serving dancers and their families in Chesapeake, Suffolk, Portsmouth, Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Hampton, Newport News, Ivor, Windsor, Courtland and the surrounding areas.
Miss Maureen lead the company for 45 years and passed the baton to her daughter Miss Michelle upon her retirement. With 30 + years teaching experience under her belt and working here most of her life, Michelle is thrilled to continue the legacy her mom started when she was just an infant.
With nine experienced and talented instructors, our dancers receive excellent training focusing on building technique and a life-long love of dance.
Classes for beginner, intermediate and advanced levels are available.
Our youngest students must be 3 years old by September 30th of the year they start and be fully potty trained. Students range in age from 3 thru adult, and our adult class(es) have inspired so many new students (both young and seasoned) to give it a try.
Each year we have an array of new families as well as students who have spent most of their childhood's dancing with us. We are thrilled when 2nd and 3rd generations sign up for class.
Our studio also has a receptionist on duty during all class times to assist customers.
Maureen's Dancewear Shop has downsized (due to Maureen's retirement), simply carrying a few dancewear items, as well as dance shoes and tights. Please call to schedule a shoe fitting appointment if planning to arrive after 5pm.

Michelle's premier years as Director have been truly special, made possible by our amazing staff and incredible dance family (the dancers and families that we serve now as well as those that danced with us throughout the past 50 years).
Our School Year Dance Session
Classes begin Monday, September 9, 2024 and end with our 51st Annual Dance Recital springtime 2025.
Registration for our School Year Session begins April 1st. A $30 registration fee per student is required at the time of registration.
Pre-Registering gives our families months before the session begins to get their student reserved. We will continue to register students through September 30th, as long as there is space available in class. Many classes fill up, please register early to ensure your dancer's spot is saved! This fee is non-refundable.
Class rate is $60, per month for 9 months.

Our Summer Dance Workshop
3 week session that meets on Tuesdays & Thursdays either:
starting July 9thor another in August
OR a 6 week session that meets on Wednesdays:
beginning July 10th
Registration for Summer Dance Workshop begins April 1st. We recommend saving your spot with a $45 deposit (put towards the class fee) at the time of registration.
Class fee is $90 for all 6 lessons
Home of the Spotlight Dance Competition Team
We strongly encourage dancers who aspire to be on team to take as many dance styles as possible, but especially Ballet and Jazz, since the foundation of our program is reliant on these skills, terminology and technique.
